That's Service.
We went to dinner with friends on Saturday night but first we stopped at a new eatery in town for a drink. It seemed a lovely place and since it was the first Saturday night they'd been open....they were very attentive.
Three different bartenders tended to my every need. 'How's your beer?' 'Is it good?' 'Too cold?' 'Too warm?' 'How are you?'
I had to draw the line at the full body massage but not before I got a manicure, pedicure and a scalp massage. It seemed they'd simply do anything to make sure my drink was the best I'd ever had in the city of Royal Oak.
Then, as we left 6 different people eagerly said, "Bye! Thanks for coming! Have a nice night!"
I felt embarassed to be leaving. I kept waiting for the chef to come out of the kitchen and throw himself at my feet crying, "Why are you forsaking me!!!!???"
As we walked to our car Logan noted, "Wow, all those good byes were a little over the top." As though the scalp massage was normal.
Finally, I have a question. Do you think it's a problem if you see grown people at a restaurant, at a 'brew pub', drinking soda and lemonade on a Saturday night and you feel personally offended by their beverage choices?
Because I did, I was personally offended by the lack of any alcohol at their table. In fact, I'm considering legal action for the pain and suffering I endured while watching their dry table. I can't believe they didn't notice me staring incredulously at their table, mouthing 'Why? Why?' over and over while shaking my head in disbelief.
Dang, I need to get myself east of Ann Arbor sometime! Pedicures and cocktails sounds like a lovely combination, lol! I would really have to wonder about the dry table, too. That just ain't right, man.

uh, I clicked on the link--and I just would like to say: next time you're in the neighborhood of that spot would you mind stopping in the back at the Cuban place and picking up an order of cornmeal cakes stuffed with goat cheese, tomato and avocado, and sending them by 12-hour air chez moi? mmmmkay? many thanks. xox

Too funny... we have a place in Toronto where we go for martini's and manicures!
As for the table without any alcohol... that only bothered me when I was a waitress (umm.. server). Now I'm pregnant and can't drink, so if I can't drink nobody should.

See now if I were pregnant I would take this case straight to congress. While pregnant I felt that drinks should be consumed for me, since i wasn't drinking anything.

I would be greatly offended as well. What were they thinking?

Maybe they weren't thinking -- maybe they were deeply in passionate, wildass love and didn't need spirits that night. Maybe they were drunk from simply staring into each other's eyes.
Sorry. I'm stopping now.

Wow...that's hot since it was two couples at that table. I didn't know Royal Oak had swingers!

I cannot think of one other couple I would have dinner with and not drink. or need to drink. or came drunk. or snuck a drink. wow, maybe they were mormons or something. do you have mormons there?
