Another Facet Of This Life I Lead: Overpriced 'Lifestyle' Dolls
Last summer we went to Chicago and while there visited American Girl Place. It was a lot like my clearest vision of hell and Madison loved every single minute of it. Which is odd, since she has never shown an interest in dolls. Oh, that's right....merchandising!
Wendy brings us American Girls Gone Wild
We visited the one in NYC. Even I fell into the American Girl trap. And just because I realize it's all marketing doesn't make me want the buy them less. In fact, I think it makes me want to buy them more.

Oh my god I howled--- howled. If I go back and read it again there will be more howling. THANK YOU for sharing this totally Monday-morning-sucky-rainy-day obliterator.

I don't even have a girl, but I still thought it was FUNNY

Substitute My Little Pony for the AG dolls, and: Welcome To My World! At least they're cheap. Unfortunately, they are also every frickin' where. And oh so tacky.
Actually the Jellybean loses her shit over anything remotely equine. Of the endless parade of materiality she favors, I like best the Douglas CuddleToy horses. Well, let's face it, I'm relentlessly acquisitive too. I probably made her that way. *slinks away, loaded with mommyguilt*

Heh! We have a couple of those stuffed horses (we have a stuffed animal 'problem')....they're all named 'Douglas'.
Sigh...my daughter is very creative.
We do not own an American Girl Doll. She wants one, but I've had trouble justifying the cash for something she really only likes because of the store. She has NEVER played with a doll. In fact Max has taken custody of all dolls in this house.

When I was young I had a friend who not only had four American Doll's, but the accompanying dresser, clothes, desks, etc. I really wanted one when I was young, but those dolls are expensive as all hell. But pretty in a creepy chuckie doll way.

So freaking funny. I had no idea such a thing existed. Thanks for the warning.

She is so talented. I laughed almost as hard as when I first saw the Weight Watchers cards.
