Happy Birthday To Pants

Tonight Logan will blow out 37 candles on his birthday cake. Then the house will burn down.
I know I've used this picture of him before but when I asked where all his baby pictures were he said, "I think they're at my mom's." I have a feeling his mom wouldn't exactly love to turn over her family photos for me to publish on this website, so an old picture it is.
Also especially for Briantology, here's Mr Rock and Roll hair!

Happy Birthday Baby. Only three more years until you can have that mid life crisis!
AAGGHHH! THE HAIR!! I'M BLIND!!!

happy birthday, big max! I never realized they looked so much alike until I saw that first picture. I'm assuming with the hair in the second picture that there's a chance Madison will look more like that one.

Sarcastic Journalist has a good point...who DOES Madison get her hair from? You or Logan? And if it's Logan...well, is Madison prepared for the possibility of having pubic hair sprouting from her head?

Is that a merm? That is FINE! I bet he has his Camaro t-shirt on undeneath that suit and skinny tie.

The long hair, it's coming back. My nephews and their friends - long hair. I try to run screaming and want to tell them they're not going to look back fondly at this hair period in their lives. Just like when I look back at my feathered hair that took me forever to do, killing a couple of blow dryers in the process.
Happy Birthday, Pants! 37 is great. 40 is average. 41 seems to be great again.

The hair! It's so 80s!
Posted by: Grace | 2005.08.10 at 04:11 PM
Hey! Nothing wrong with a mullet. Nothing at all.
Posted by: Beerzie | 2005.08.10 at 04:25 PM
Oh dear lord. The hair is really something special, isn't it?! Did he look like that when you met him? In all the other pics I've seen, Logan is a hottie. I'm trying, but I just can't seem to have "hottie" thoughts when I see that hair!

Hey Logan, Gene Simmons called. He said thanks for giving his hair back.
Happy buttafuoco, old man.

I'm so glad I'm not the only woman married to a man who used to have a perm and then turned out to be a hottie.
Happy Birthday Logan!

Yessssss! The return of Rock and Roll Hair! Happy birthday!
Posted by: Poppy | 2005.08.10 at 05:13 PM
Hold on...the flashback, 1984, Bad music, bad hair, bad clothes, yup, 80's. Gotta love a guy who embraces the period with such zest, and hair.

God bless you, Mrs. Summers. And rockin' Mr. Summers too.
Posted by: briantologist | 2005.08.10 at 05:59 PM
Please tell me that you've already Photoshopped a big ole pick into that hair at some point!

My husband, turned 40 on the 8th. FORTY! I'm married to FORTY! Man, will the "Frank Gifford" jokes ever stop? I doubt it, being married to FORTY is fun!
Happy birthday to Logan!
Posted by: Y | 2005.08.10 at 07:23 PM
The fact that you married him knowing that hair was in his past means you are so going to heaven.
Posted by: southernfriedgirl | 2005.08.10 at 08:23 PM
Gotta' have parachute pants on for the whole 80's package in that pic. Where's the "Flock of Seagulls" shot...like my husband? Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday Logan!
If my math is right, that means Logan graduated the same year I got married. I feel so old.

LOL!! Oh man look at all that HAIR! Back in the day that was HOT! Now not so hot ;)
Happy B-Day Pants. And please tell your mother to give you some of your childhood photos! Besides providing internet entertainment value someday your kids will thank you.

That hair TOTALLY made my day.
Posted by: Annie | 2005.08.11 at 12:51 AM
Oh, man. He was just dreamy in high school wasn't he? I would have had his name with hearts all over my spiral notebook, I am certain. But look at him, he wouldn't have even known I existed! *sigh*
Happy Birthday, Logan!

I'm impressed by the way he gets the swoop in the back and the indent near the neck. How'd they do that back then? COOL!
Happy Birthday hombre.
Posted by: miel | 2005.08.11 at 02:05 AM
Oh, God, the memories. Wrestling with a curling iron to try and get my hair to at least feather, if not climb 20 feet above my head.
Does he ever find himself using the word rockin' in a sentence? A sure way to recognize others from your generation.
Happy birthday, Logan. 37 isn't so bad. Until you realize that it's only 3 years from 40 (2 years for me. Not that I'm counting or anything).
Posted by: DM | 2005.08.11 at 02:34 AM
I was certain that was a photoshopped picture.. sweet jesus.
If Logan keeps increasing his hotness every year at this staggering rate, you two are in for some damn sexy golden years.
Happy Hairday! er.. Birthday!!!
Posted by: Eve | 2005.08.11 at 02:45 AM
Logan is WEARING that fuzzy mullet, isn't he?! Smokin'!
Posted by: kim | 2005.08.11 at 03:24 AM
So, did you clean the bathroom for him?
Posted by: paul | 2005.08.11 at 08:20 AM
Happy B'day! and I had the same hair in my Senior picture,
Posted by: kelly | 2005.08.11 at 08:58 AM
uh........
Happy Birthday to Logan.
I uh....... like the uh........hair photo.
Oh, I meant, the high school photo.
Posted by: Heatherg | 2005.08.11 at 09:29 AM
Thank you all for your warm birthday wishes!
Note: That's no perm -- it's my natural curl. And... that's no high school photo folks -- and it's not even from the 80's. That's my college graduation photo from 1991!
Posted by: Pants | 2005.08.11 at 09:29 AM
Wow, I think I actually saw that hair style at the Def Leppard concert I went to last night.
Happy Birthday!
Posted by: Jessie | 2005.08.11 at 09:40 AM
Must I remind all of us... the 80's (early early 90's) were not kind to any of us. I audibly groan when looking at pictures of myself in highschool.
But nice to know I share a birthday with someone that looks so Rocking with Dokken
Happy 37th Logan!
Posted by: Saple | 2005.08.11 at 11:05 AM
Hey! Logan and the Boy have the same birthday, give or take, you know, 31 years.
Posted by: Psycho Kitty | 2005.08.11 at 11:48 AM
the HAIR!!!! I can just picture him singing alone with Whitesnake!!
Posted by: cmhl | 2005.08.11 at 12:20 PM
Dude,
Your husband is totally rockin' the mullet-perm.
Posted by: TB | 2005.08.11 at 12:52 PM
Delurking to say "Happy Birthday" to your hubby Logan, who might I add, makes gray look hot! Also, based on the picture, in my opinion, Logan has only gotten hotter as he's aged. Not that he wasn't a cutie before, but now, wow. Melissa, you did good girlfriend! Between you and Logan, your children got some very good genes!!
Posted by: The Princess | 2005.08.11 at 04:54 PM
I love, love old photos. Logan's birthday puts him at my brother's age, who, despite an 11-year age gap, I'm very close to.
And then he'll throw out a story about going to prom in a Firebird or being in college when Back to the Future was cool.
Happy birthday to Logan; and I enjoyed my first visit here!

Melissa,
I am enjoying your website: I like its sensibility and your stories. I
am a writer by profession and a blogger by need: I recently moved from
SF to the East Coast with my wife and twin 18 month-old boys. I have started
blogging to burn off the energy from the transition from city living
to the burbs and the constantly evolving challenges posed by our
children. I'd like to point your way to my website – "Diary of a
Desperate Househusband" - http://deshousehusband.blogspot.com/ - and
if you liked it, to propose that we create links to each other's sites
as I think they share a similar sensibility with different
perspectives.
Best regards,
TRL
PS I am putting this in comments rather than emailing you as my email to you at your address was kicked back.

Admit it, you just can't think of another post greater than this! Maybe you should put that high school picture on the side so it's always up there to make you smile. I laugh every time I open this page!

Happy bday! I think I'm sensing a theme. In the first photo, he is playing the part of the world's littlest inmate, and in the second the part of glee-filled electrical engineering student. Other roles he might want to explore: rastafarian, tax accountant, day laborer.

I didn't know you were married to Richard Marx.
Posted by: Suzanne | 2005.08.12 at 03:39 PM
He looks like he would have been rolling with Uncle Jesse back in the day. :)
Posted by: Paige | 2005.08.12 at 04:16 PM
I had a crush on a boy with that hair in High School. If Logan wore holey jeans with bleach stains on them he would have been the name I called my pillow each night before I practiced kissing it. Way to go Melissa!!
Posted by: Deborah | 2005.08.13 at 12:58 PM
Richard Marx?
I totally found the music that I could "sing" to. It's Indigo girls. I tried it out in my car and I don't think I sound "that" bad. Leaving for a week...hope to see you 8/24!
Love you...awkward hug!
