Madison's Vacation
Here is a collection of Madison's photos from our vacation at flickr.
It's similar to mine but involves a lot more butts. See?
I love this one:
And this one:
I like how she framed this shot, which is more than likely an accident.
Also you can thank me later for not sharing all the pictures she took of the horses on Mackinac Island. Holy God, there were literally thirty of them. And still I will never buy her a horse.

Seriously, it's a surprise jails aren't filled up with horse stalkers all under the age of thirteen. That period is ripe for obsessing over Equines. And take photos of them from a distance. Horses eating, walking, being hosed down. Horses are a pre-teen's Sorority Girls.
Beautiful pictures!!

I love Mackinac Island! As a kid, my parents and I would return to Michigan every other year as our family vacation. There was this little fudge shop (no clue what the name is), but this family lived there on the island and made the best fudge I have ever tasted. We never did ride a horse though :(

The kids seem to have inherited your love for photography...Madison's pictures are sooo good! Sorry about the horse obsession. Maybe a My Little Pony would shut her up for awhile?

The pictures from Legs Inn are great. That is a completely wonderful place, isn't it? I recently went there for the first time, and I loved it.

I'm telling you, Miss Maddie has a good eye!

Madison's pictures are impressive. I'm gonna hire her out the next time I need pictures taken. She clearly has a better eye than I do.

Does she do weddings?

I wouldn't necessarily say that one great one of the post was an accident.
I think you'd be surprised at what natural photographers kids can be!

Looks like it's time to start Madison's Breyer Horse collection. The model horses are good for those of us who live in cities and can probably never own a horse! I think I started my collection at around her age. Now my daughter has them. I put the URL under my name.

Damn, it's totally becoming the time that I am supposed to take Maddie horseback riding, isn't it? I think we may have to wait until spring, when I will have more money. And I promise not to drink beer while driving her around like our aunt did on MY horseback riding adventures at her age!
And I am amazed at the quality of the photos the kids took. I can't believe how great digital cameras are for kids- I never would have thought of it!

Those pictures are great! She's a better photographer than my mother, that's for sure. Although I'll bet there are probably a lot more Madison pics that didn't make the flickr cut.

You have no idea. At least 800 pictures were snapped by her and Max combined.

This is such a fabulous idea! It has inspired me to buy my 7 year old daughter a digital camera for Christmas. Thank you.

Pretty good actually! She has an artist's eye. Must take after her parents!

I love this idea. Especially since both my girls are constantly riding me to let them use my camera...I'm a little gun-shy, given the cost of my camera, but we have a couple 3 megapixel's lying around that I wouldn't sob over if they got greasy little fingers in the gears.
I'm also curious to see what the world looks like again, through four-year old and two-year old eyes. Did you give them any parameters, or just let them go for it? I'm guessing from the horse comment, you just let them go for it.

Kelly it really is a great thing. No worries about them flying through a 24 exposure disposable camera with nothing but air shots. You let them shoot and edit later.
Also I have to say I was inspired to give her the elph by the documentary Born Into Brothels. I realized how much photography is what kids actually see, not the 'art of the shot'.

What a great idea! Looks like she had a fantastic time...and took some great pics. You're a wonderful mom.

Hey, congrats on getting one of the last nice weeks here in Michigan for your family vacation. I'm sad I missed going up north then, and instead am going to the UP on Thursday. It's supposed to be cold and rainy. Yick.

Maddison is very talented...I'm not surprised with two artistic parents to draw from. BTW - After Workout Mom is HOTT!
I thought,"Who is that? She's skinny!" Ta-da it's you! Fat, my ass! (it's true, I not only have Mom butt, I have grandma flat but fat butt and I'm not yet 30)

My 14 y/o said the one with the mile marker (right?) looks like a Number 2 pencil.
She thought it quite full of perspective.

Spent the best summer of my life working on Mackinac Island. No cars = no driving = lax underage drinking enforcement.
