I used to do crafty things

Remember when I knit the Best. Baby. Sweater. Ever.?

I've made quite a few baby sweaters and this was the best one I've done.

So imagine how tickled I was when this photo came in a holiday card! First of all, look at my friend John's little girl. Second: check out that awesome sweater! Wooo!

Mary in the best baby sweater ever

The most amusing part of this sweater is how I thought it would fit in the fall of 2004, when Mary was not quite one. Uhm, she'll be two in February. I guess I'm a loose knitter.

Wait that sounds bad.

That little girl is so cute! And the sweater looks great on her-the colors are perfect with her hair. Great job!

Eulallia

That is such a compliment to have her wear it in the photo. Good for you!

Wow, what a compliment! That sweater is awesome. I can't even imagine making something like that. I'm a pretty crafty girl, but knitting baffles me. I think I'm too slow to learn knitting.

Vida

That is a great sweater. I think if I tried to knit a sweater, it would end up looking like a sock.

Also, is it weird that I want to take her red locks and make a wig for myself out of them?

Kate

That is such a pretty sweater!

Mel

Darling baby and, yes, the Best. Baby. Sweater. Ever. I once knit a triangle (accidentally), so I'd know.

SAHM

didn't know you were a knitter...LOVE it! It is indeed very sweet!

Kathy

Great sweater (and ADORABLE little girl) - did you learn to knit when you were young or did you learn recently? I am thinking of *trying* to learn again, my mother used to try and teach me and I had no patience for it. I figure if I start now, I might be good enough to knit my grandchildren something (my oldest child is 9!)

Christina

Wow, what a great sweater, and what a wonderful compliment to send you a photo of her in it!

I just started knitting this summer, and I haven't even come close to finishing the small bag I chose as a starter project. After I'm done with that, I'm moving on to a shawl.

You're a great knitter!

Please, calm down. Life isn't meant to be so difficult to navigate! We smile and watch, wait and see, and do when asked. Really. Slow down and see...

Ninotchka

That sweater is just amazing. I'm SO impressed by people who can knit. She's a cutie!

Amber

Aha! Another loose knitter. You and I should get together and show all those tight knitters how to let loose and have a good time.

JohnC

Yeah Liss, we love the sweater, thank you so much... but notice that even now we have the sleves rolled up? :-)

Kristen

Great sweater! I once cross-stitched "I [heart shape] U" for a mohter's day craft in girl scouts. That's the extent of my needle and thread experience.

Tamara

What a cute sweater!!! This is the only non-knitting blog that I routinely read so I was a bit confused when I opened it to see knitting!!! You should blog about your knitting more often!!! Isn't it wonderful to see someone actually wearing something that you made yourself and it looks beautiful on them!

Amy

You should sell your knitting and become a gazillionaire. I discovered (last night, acutally) the fun fur scarves I knit so regurlarly sell for $42 each at the local art gallery. $42! Imagine what a sweater that cute would do to improve your financial status. Take them to a kiosk in Somerset!

kristine

knitting...now way I could pull that off.
I am still learning that whole walking/chewing gum thing!!

What?????? I'm confused. What post does this go with?

That kid is adorable. So is the sweater. What a compliment for them to put her in the sweater for the Christmas card.

I wear a medium and live at... :)
