How long will this response work?
Logan went to see a concert tonight.
I have a maddening crush on Ben Folds and guess who Logan went to see tonight? Yes. That's it.
I started to say, "Gah...this isn't fair...."
But Logan stopped me.
Ahem.
Will I never be allowed to whine again? I want to blame Amsterdam for this but maybe I'll just keep blaming Canada. Thanks a lot Canada.
On the other hand, almost all of Ben Folds' music makes me sob, like park-in-the-driveway-&-finish-the-song-while-sobbing, sobbing. If anyone remembers my crying face, that wouldn't serve anyone's best interest.
I seriously love Ben Folds. I saw him three or four times when he was with the band, but never alone. I even got to shake a drunken Robert Sledge's hand! And he "signed", err scribbled on my ticket. I didn't get close to The Ben though.

Ooooh I love the HamsterJam photos! Thanks for posting them.

I feel your pain. A few years ago I turned my little brother on to Ben Folds. Then the other day he tells me that he and his friends are going to see the concert. I asked if he got me a ticket, which restulted in a 16-year-old eye roll and a "No, I didn't think you'd want to go."
What do you mean you didn't think I'd want to go?! No fair.

I think you look pretty when you cry.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm a huge fan of Ben Folds as well, and I have yet to see him in concert. It is one of the goals I have outlined for myself before I die, even if I have to fly somewhere to do it.
Oh, I wish I were in Ann Arbor tonight... and that says a lot considering I live in Alabama.

You've totally made my day by being a Ben Folds fan! I've seen him...more times than I can count (I lost track around 12)...and I'm so tired of dealing with the 16 year old faction at his concerts. I hope you get to see him the next time he's in town--I saw him last at Radio City and it was definitely the best concert I've ever had the pleasure of attending.

Oh, my lovely lovely Ben Folds. I want to squidge him. And you for loving him too. Consider yourself squidged.

I used to haaaate bf5 - mainly that brick song was so incredibly whiny. But now, especially his remake of Golden Slumbers, beautimous - and just so you know...
You'll always hear about Amsterdam. I sent my hubby to Vegas for his birthday and I use it all the time.
"Um remember Vegas? Right... I'll take another pair of those..."

I don't know, it could be a long time. I'm still milking that birth thing on my 12 year old.

Aw, doesn't it suck when we're just a little bit wrong? Not fair. Whiningly so...
Yum. Ben Folds.

Awww... there are good Canadians too! We're not all snooty ticket agents and stupid people that won't help you find lost luggage claim tabs :-) There's WiFi, fresh-roasted coffee & the Rocky Mountains out in my corner of the country!

Like Brick, and Losing Lisa, and Song for the Dumped, and Kate? I love each and every one of those songs. I will always remember seeing BF at the Broncobowl in Dallas, before he was Big and Famous and All. He was wonderful. Is wonderful. And I'm sad, so very sad, that you did not get to see him!

Ben Folds is my absolute favorite. I would have whined too. Doesn't it suck to not only feel whiny, but feel guilty about feeling whiny?

Also a Ben Folds fan, and I totally understand this feeling, especially the guilt about whining. One of the few bad things about being married to an oncologist is that my bad day is NEVER as bad as his bad day.
ME: "...and then your son had a meltdown in the grocery store and then the repair guy blew me off for the 3rd time after I'd waited all afternoon."
HIM: "I had to tell a 32 year old woman that her breast cancer had spread to her brain and it doesn't look good."
Eh, it keeps me in line.

If it makes you feel better, I think Ben Folds is better on CD than live. I heard him last summer and I love his music but not so much live. Not so good live.

I, too, love Ben Folds. His music strikes a nostalgic, melancholy chord with me. However, I'm with you -- his music makes me want to cry. I would be absolutely no fun at one of his concerts!

This might make you feel better....The place where I live....in Atlantic Canada (far, FAR from that bad Pearson airport and all of the mean Pearson-ites) is indeed so remote that great bands like Ben Folds (and I could really go on)....NEVER come here...so there aren't even any concerts to covet.
Things will turn around...:*) The household will recover from spending and temporary chaos. In the meantime we luvs ya lots and you can always spend your time entertaining us...we're captive peoples!
Have a good week!

I think you're pretty much doomed to at least two years of "no whining." I am still paying for a weekend trip to NYC THREE YEARS ago.
The pix of Amsterdam are REALLY good!

Amsterdam---Ben Folds Damn that's a tough one, I'm inclined to lean toward at least a year. Your photographs are captivating.

Oh, me too. I picked up "Rocking the Suburbs" by absolute chance at Tower one day, and it became one of my favorite CDs. (Love it when that happens.) The song "Good Morning Son" never fails to make me cry.

Ah, Ben Folds! I discovered him about 11 years ago, and since then, he's become the soundtrack to my life! It's like HE KNOWS...

Ben Folds is great, the music is fantastic. Give it try and you'll come to love it.
