You won't believe it.
I wore....a bathing suit today. For several hours. At a private swim club with lots of other people who, when they dared to look upon my white flesh (3 years suit and shorts free), were blinded.
I'm sorry Indianapolis. I'm sorry you had to see that.
When I got in the water and started to swim, dunking under the water, Madison yelled out, "Mommy! You went under water! Good for you!" As if I were a 5 year old.
Then she turned Logan and my sister in law and said, "I didn't know Mommy could even swim!"
Great post -- and congrats on wearing a suit!

No need for apologies! Sheez. Glad you had fun with the kids.

Go Melissa!!! Babysteps, babysteps.
(Also, how cute are Madison's comments lately?)

I've been putting myself through similar humiliation by taking my kids to the neighborhood pool this summer. My poor neighbors have to wear special sunglasses to shield their eyes from the glare of my jiggly albino thighs. GAH.

I love that you "took the plunge." And the white skin? Healthier. That's so awesome.

Way to go! What kind of suit did you choose?
Swimming is good for your soul.

I bought a bathing suit this year for the first time in years. And when I wore it the first time and didn't drop dead, I wore it again.
It gets easier every time and I disovered that swimming really is fun.

Must be the summer for it.
After completely avoiding the pool in my own backyard all last summer I have been in there at least 3 times a week this year - and for long periods of time each time!

The lesson there is that your children don't care how white or whatever you are, they just want you to get in there and *play* with them. I'm not much of a play kind of person except for in the water. My husband is the one who does the block building and playing, I handle water play and I LOVE IT! Good for you for joining in the fun!

Porcelain skin - lily-white, beautiful.
Blinding, maybe, but nonetheless lovely, I'm sure...

You know, 13 years after becoming a mom I finally said f... it and wear a bathing suit (not happily mind you) to the pool with my kids. Last month I even did a waterslide park.
The kids do not care that mommy is 35 pounds over what she should be, they are just so happy I am in there with them and enjoying the fun :) Good feeling. (And gives you a chance to scope out the similarily aged moms who are suprisingly similar to oneself.)
Go for it my dear!
