As always, the Buzz Off makes me drool with "want it lust" and curse my finances.
Ok, as a teacher, I hate to be a wet blanket, and I know that all the parents will get offended, but here goes: We don't like homebaked goods. We oooh and aahhh over them, and absolutely appreciate the effort and thought you put into them, but we generally bin them when nobody's looking. You just never know how clean the kitchen was, whose fingers made it into the batter, and whether or not there are any "surprises" in there.

I have to delurk to ditto Kimberly (and the National PTA folks in the article). The effort of homemade food is genuinely appreciated, but I only know one fellow teacher who will actually eat it, and I think she just likes to show off. :)
Maybe I'm cynical because I teach high school. I don't want to offend parents, but if some could see what their kids are like in our classrooms, I don't think they'd eat even the most well-intentioned cupcake, either!
(Great article as always, though!)

Nobody likes other peoples home-baked goods because we're all guilted into eating more than we'd like to.
Poor teachers.
