The best $150 ever spent.
Many years ago when Logan and I were still dating he told me this story as we drove to dinner one night.
He was at a busy intersection and a teenager was trying to cross the street on his bike carrying a big load of sandwiches from the Subway on the corner.
As he crossed the road, all the sandwiches fell out of his grasp and into the road. Logan watched as he hopped off his bike and tried to pick up the sandwiches. Impatient drivers started blaring their horns when the light changed and the poor kid was still in the middle of the road trying to salvage the lunch he was sent to pick up.
He said, as he watched the poor kid trying to pick up his sandwiches he felt sick to his stomach and close to tears. How humiliated and frustrated the guy must have been and how he wanted to punch who ever was honking.
I don't remember if he actually put the car in park and went to help the kid or if he just sat in the driver's seat and felt like crap about the whole thing but either way he told me that story and it made me tear my panties off and throw them at his head.
Logan turned 39 today.
When he was born his parents had to bring $150 to Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit to pay their bill and take their new baby home.
I'm so glad they did.

happy birthday, logan of the big heart!

Well no wonder he's so AWESOME and good looking! He's an August baby. ;) HAPPY BIRTHDAY LOGAN! He's well worth $150!
(my birthday is tomorrow, but I think my parents got me for free)

OK, there is a slight, slight (tiny, really) chance that I'm feeling overemotional today, but this post made me a little teary. Thank you for your wonderful writing and for sharing the sweet story!

Happy birthday to Logan! My son also had a birthday this week (Tuesday). We actually made $170 when he was born due to overlapping military & private insurance! He quickly ran through that money in diapers though :-)

Happy birthday to Logan!
My younger sister cost my parents $1 to get out of hock at the hospital. There were many times while growing up that I wished they'd cheaped out and didn't pay.

Awww. Happy birthday indeed.
22 years after I was born, I was working in a restaurant and I served lunch to an old man and his family. It was his 80th birthday, and when I saw his credit card I recognised his name, and asked if he was the Dr Taylor who had delivered me. He was, and he remembered my family (I'm one of four) and he said he often wondered what happened to all those babies he'd delivered over the years, and how they'd turned out, given the effort the mothers had gone through. (I made sure to mention I was working as a waitress to put myself through University, just in case he decided that I hadn't reached what he'd hoped would be my potential. Not that there's anything wrong with waitressing.)
I'm sure Logan's doctor would be happy to know how well he turned out.

Oh, wow! That was ME! But the whole thing was just a performance-art piece called 'Hold the lettuce?' I'm bummed that Logan didn't 'get it,' but thanks for the press!

So many people think my husband can be a jerk. He's shy, and short-tempered (because of his stressful job), which make for an odd combination of traits. But, he's the most generous, big-hearted man I know and he would have jumped out of the car to help that kid with his sandwiches. Then, he would've used that short temper and kicked some honking ass.

That's a great story! Happy birthday to your sweet husband. Incidentally, it's my husband's birthday, too. August 10th is obviously a day on which great guys are born. Awesome.

Logan sounds like a dreamboat. Happy belated birthday to him.
P.S. I hope you really did throw your panties. There isn't enough panty throwing anymore . . .
