Whirlwind
No internet. I'm stealing a very weak signal from the neighbors.
There have been 2-7 kids here since we moved in and everyone keeps telling me how sorry they are but this is exactly how I pictured summers for my kids. Also it makes me feel less guilty for all this space when the house is full of people.
We worked hard to get out of the last house. But I'm not sure we worked this hard.

Isn't it a great feeling? We were in your position two years ago, and I still sometimes pinch myself to make sure it's real. Congratulations.

You totally need to change your tagline now. I'm so happy for you!!!

Congrats on the new house. We're just starting the process -- and I can't wait for that feeling of having a permanent(ish) home.

Are you ever happy? All you talked about for months now was getting your dream house so your kids could have a garage to store their bikes in and have great friends in a great neighborhood. You should count your blessings that you are able to provide such a good life for your children, in your dream neighborhood, with great schools. Not everyone is so lucky, especially in Michigan's economy right now.

Yes! I am feeling you on this...We just moved on up to a real neighborhood too...I have been in a state of bliss/denial...I am earnestly happy for you bc you were really unsure about things and a bit freaked I saw...yahoo for yr family. Life is good.

Good for you!
I have 6 kids running around the house at the moment but unfortunately 5 of them are mine in the first place. hehe

Hooray! How thrilling. There is NOTHING as exciting as a new house.

iconclst, this is Melissa's way of saying she *is* happy. Ease up.

And Melissa, I join the legions in saying Woohoo! Congrats, and godspeed on getting a real internet connection.

Seriously, iconclst, I encourage you to heed to the old "if you haven't got something nice to say..." adage. Congrats Melissa--having a built in group of neighborhood friends that I could run around with is one of my happiest summer childhood memories. We're in a new 'hood ourselves and O starts kindergarten in a few weeks and will begin meeting the neighborhood kids. I can't wait until he makes those connections and has the same, wonderful experience.

Iconclst: where the hell did I say I wasn't happy?
"...this is exactly how I pictured summers for my kids."
Your envy is very unbecoming on you. I hope your dreams come true as well.
Also, reading blogs while at work at Ford Motor Company probably isn't going to do much for your career in the Michigan economy.

Awesome! You feel lucky! It's about time!
Guilty for all the space? I would LOVE to have your problem!!! Only I wouldn't want to fill it with people...I'd fill it with Krispy Kremes or something GOOD!!!!
*giggle*

After I read it... and read the comments about my post... I totally misinterpreted your blog. I read it that you were complaining that you wanted peace and quiet - not a house full of kids. But what you really meant is that your dreams came true... in the dream neighborhood. Sorry. I need to read in between the lines.

Thank you for that. It's been a bad email day and I appreciate your apology.

yay! I'm so happy for you. I've been following your blog for nearly a year now. Big fan.

I totally and completely understand what you might be feeling. Or maybe I'm just projecting: my husband and I have been separated for a year and now he's back in the house, and sober, and employed, and things are too good. I try to concentrate on today. I love your blog it's the first bookmark on my "Parent Stuff" bookmark category. Thanks for being honest and real.

My own lovely experiences with Comcast included a technician who hit on me the entire time - I don't know him, he's a stranger in my house and I live alone. Awesome.
Once he left the router didn't work so I called into their service line to get assistance and the operator accidentally picked up my call instead of the friend she meant to tell about the asshole she was dating. She immediately hung up when she realized I wasn't her friend so I had to navigate the menu again to get her again who transfered me erroneously to the billing department.
They got the modem running, but my Tivo adapter would not join the network. Since I gave over my life to Tivo it was unacceptable to be forced to live with commercials and no pauses when people call and useless, mindless television I didn't want to watch anyway....
The whole point of that story was my friend Susan coming over to fix the network with a single valuable phrase about my airport express. Restart it's ass until it starts working. A basic idea that worked that day and the day I installed my mother's wireless network. Who knew I would be so dependent on a paper clip?
