I really didn't want to put a copyright thing on my site. It seemed a little....I don't know. But it's been brought to my attention I need to remind people to maybe think their own thoughts.

Struck Mute.

I had no idea the kind of vitriol the Duggars would elicit. Or perhaps I had no idea how much disdain my post referencing the Duggars would elicit. Everyone turn on your period and let's move along.

I sort of wish babies came out of the womb going to school all day.

This new experience of having everyday to get things done AND have time for myself has been everything I thought it would be. I worried maybe I'd become jaded about how nice it is to be free to fill my time with what I need/want to do for seven hours everyday. But no, it's still thrilling everyday. Especially once I've completed my work. Please see here, here, here and here. (Back log. Sorry!)

All summer I had grand plans for these hours. I'll go to yoga everyday! I'll go out to lunch! I'll see a movie in the middle of the day! So far I've done none of these things, although today I plan to paint the back room and that is excruciatingly exciting.

But still the fact that I can do these things is pleasing.

I keep waiting for the comment to come along: "My God, aren't you ever unhappy?"

I happen to LOVE the Duggars. They have a new special on Discovery this Friday. I only have one kid (born last month) and I would love to be able to turn on my period. I haven't had one yet since she was born and I hate waiting for it.

Birchsprite

is that a grumpy comment? I'm very confused.

I've also been lured into believing I would be watching matinees all the live long day now. Oh well.

Girl's got to dream.

Country Mouse

Lisa, I first read you as having been lured into believing you would be watching manatees all the live long day. And I wondered just where you lived.

Delurking to say: Oh my. 17 children?! And I can't seem to have a life with just one...

School sounds like a wonderful thing!

Man. I don't get the Duggar hate. Big families are fun. I grew up in one.

Regardless. Seven hours a day all by yourself is the only reason I can plod through this baby/toddler BS. Thanks for keeping the hope alive.

HeeHee, Country Mouse, I read it as "manatees" too. Maybe I just need another glass of red wine to help my eyes focus...
Melissa, all I can say is, enjoy the luxury of time. It truly is the *real* luxury, and it's all too easy to fill up (I'm enjoying the first days of Everyone Is In School too!)

Star Shine

I'm so glad that you're enjoying the newly freed-up hours in your day...smile on, sister!

I'm confused. You're post did not strike me as negative at all, but the comments it illicted! Wow! I don't know what people find so threatening about the Duggars. It sure isn't for everyone, definitely not for me, but they seem to do a great job. I love you blog. I think you're honest and insightful, and I often find myself in your writings.

I am right there with you on the whole send the kids to school everyday. Who needs summer?! They don't get it in Japan! Anyway, I actually committed myself to going to yoga everyday this week, and if I make it in an hour to the class I will have fulfilled my goal. It is hard to make time for ourselves. I definitely fail more than I succeed. Well, it's time to pack them in the car and make them someone else's problem for 7 1/2 hours.

I didn't intend for my comments to be vitriolic, if those are the ones you meant, I swear. I find their lifestyle choices baffling at best, but certainly not worthy of vitriol. I don't have that much energy for MYSELF, let alone someone else!

Delurking:
I had no idea who the Duggars were before your post, but turned on the tube this morning and THE WHOLE CLAN was talking to Meredith on NBC. I've taught classes (granted, not many) that were that size!
Good for them.
I just don't know that I would be able to kiss seeing my toes goodbye for almost 12 years. (My toes are super cute.)But I guess it's like potato chips, right? Can't have just one?

Duggers: no comment;
your life?!: I'm SO jealous!!!! how do I get one?!

I thought I was going to have lots of free time with my youngest starting Kindergarten.
