I sort of already messed up the blog a day thing
I love this city but its mass overwhelms me. Also it challenges my public transportation skills.
I'm from Detroit, mass transit is against the law where I'm from.
I have more to say but this is the first time I've travelled without the laptop and I'm trying to enjoy it.
Oddly I may be missing my laptop more than the kids. Perhaps because the laptop doesn't require anything of me.
We are holed up in new jersey where I can see the city and wish I was there. Only it costs $60 to cab it from here to there.
I'm just going to sit here and watch Logan freak out about the race tomorrow. Its almost as entertaining as walking through an amazing city.
Almost.

How exciting! Have fun! If you're looking for a great place to eat, check out the Miracle Grill in the west village. I really miss living in NYC, but it's almost unbearable to not have my own Miracle Grilli in Chicago. Hope everything goes well tomorrow!

tell Logan, no pressure, but he is kind of representing all of us family bloggers. so, you know, no vomiting or fainting.
(weeping & swearing is ok. if not de riguer.)
Go Summers!

Let me just specify FOR YOU that when you say "holed up in New Jersey," you don't mean my house, but rather a hotel in the Meadowlands. And sleeping in the Meadowlands is really just creepy. Scott and I think you should have stayed here an extra night.

There are many who sleep in the Meadowlands. Some of them underground....LOL!

I'm also from Detroit but live in New York now, and even though I take public transport all the time, I can't get past the idea of not owning a car. Luckily I live in a nice little neighborhood in Brooklyn where parking's not too difficult.
The marathon came through here an hour ago, and I was out there and looked for Logan! Didn't see him, though.

Woo HOO! Just looked up Summers, Logan at the official marathon Web site, where you can track runners' progress by their name... And Logan has a big "X" next to his (I had no idea what that meant, so I looked up the women's winner, and her name has a big X too. So either that's what every finisher gets, or Logan won the NYC Marathon. Either way, you rock!

My friend likes to cheer for everyone in the NYC marathon this year, so I hosted a big brunch and we all walked over to 5th avenue.
We all yelled out the runners names, and when my friend yelled, "Go Logan" I looked up and saw your husband. So I yelled something like, "Go Melissa's husband!" Congrats to him and all the runners!

I saw Logan running at mile 7. I yelled, "Go Logan - Suburban Bliss!" He looked a little startled.
It was kind of like seeing a celebrity. :)
My sister was running too (runnersusan.com) so that's why I was here, but I was excited to recognize someone else, even if I've never actually "met" them....
That's not stalking, right?

I'm sorry NY wasn't more fun for you. We should have hung out and drank. A LOT. Of course you probably couldn't have gotten to me, because I WAS TRAPPED ON THE OTHER SIDE OF 1ST AVENUE.

Did Logan run with Katie?

So sorry this was a drag for you, Melissa. It was kind of a drag for my sister-in-law, as well. Her hubs/my brother ran. My other brother and I dragged the sis-in-law around the NYC subway system to catch my brother at key spectating spots. She damn near broke down and cried.
I don't think she'll ever forgive any of us Davis kids after this. But, we did convince her not to leave our brother.
Hopefully you had some great carbo loading with Logan.

Thoughts to ponder... In our family, I'm the one that runs marathons. Although we don't have kids yet, my husband has tried to talk me out of running the Chicago Marathon again next year (3rd year in a row). After reading this, I'll definitely think twice before registering. Thanks Melissa.
