She's Omnivorous
We're at Eastern Market to buy our Christmas tree. We walk past a meat vendor who is offering pig's heads for purchase.
For a moment I think to myself, "How hilarious would that be to serve at the neighborhood holiday dinner?" (Very, very funny.)
Maddie sees it, her eyes fall out of her head and she says, "Whoa. That was gross. Ugh, I can't even think about it. I am not eating any more meat, especially not bacon. At least for a little while."
About an hour later, we stop for lunch. Maddie orders pancakes.
And a side of bacon.

Who needs principles when there's bacon? A 14 y.o. I know quit eating meat b/c of his viewing of an entire roasted pig at a pig roast his parents had at their house. He was 9.

She said a little while. I guess she meant 30 minutes.

Always with the bacon...whenever I contemplate vegetarianism it's the bacon that does me in.

Does it make me a good witch or a bad witch that I take my 7yo son out to a local farm to visit the sheep and cattle before we buy our meat there?

Um, wow. I have the same attention span as a child. I had a friend in college that kept a pot bellied pig as a pet. And it's favorite treat? You guessed it - Bacon.

Everyone could be a vegetarian until it comes to bacon.

Pig's head served at dinner is FREAKING HYSTERICAL. Do it. And invite me. I'll be there!

I thought, based on yesterday's Finslippy post. that maybe she and Henry joined forces to form a "we don't like meat or morals" club... but I wouldn't be able to resist the bacon, either.

I am a vegetarian and have been since 1986. I do not miss steak. I do not miss shrimp. I do not miss chicken. But dang, I miss bacon.

My MIL served a pig's head at Thanksgiving dinner one year. I had to stay in the other room so I could eat without it looking at me!

Bacon and ribs. I miss those. After 15 years, you'd think I'd forget. But I don't.
However, if there's a spark of vegetarianism in that girl, I'll find and nurture it!
(God you must hate me.)
