I sort of want to be Barack Obama's New Bicycle.
The Use and Abuse of Black Anger
The Democratic presidential front-runner was talking candidly about the anger that festers in this nation's African-American kitchens and barbershops, a bitterness he said had fueled the most incendiary sermons penned by his former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright.
"That anger is not always productive," Obama noted. "It keeps us from squarely facing our own complicity in our condition, and prevents the African-American community from forging the alliances it needs to bring about real change.
"At times," he added, the same anger "had been exploited by politicians, to gin up votes along racial lines, or to make up for a politician's own failings."
Wait a minute. Wait....who's done that recently. It's right on the tip of my tongue.

It's funny how no matter how much I read of the "public discussion" on this (and Craigslist is the most insane, for sure), there hasn't been more than one or two people stating that they still support the mayor. Of course, about 6 out of 10 comments involve racism in a blatant way. and 2 out of those 6 start their comment with, "I'm not a racist, but..." and then proceed to try to recruit boycotters of Detroit. Because your 4 trips to the city a year are going to be what makes or breaks the city when we are losing millions of dollars via a corrupt mayor.
Oh, and can I just say, who gives a f if he cheated on his wife? In the bigger scheme, these peoples' Puritancial outrage is small potatoes, I say.

We talked about this right? I don't care at all that he screwed another woman/other women. Millions of people cheat on their wives and husbands and whatever. If they can get past it, what business is it of mine.
No, what's atrocious about this man is he lied about it in a court of law where he was spending millions of tax payer dollars to prove he was innocent of wrongly firing a few police officers who threatened to reveal his 'secret'.
And frankly, I don't think the fact that he was doing his chief of staff was the secret he was trying to hide. But who knows.
At the very least he was willing to lie about his relationship with Beatty, lie about firing Gary Brown and allow men who were simply doing their jobs to suffer all to protect himself.
At whatever cost.
It infuriates me and when he pulls out the bull shit 'N-word' and 'lynch mob' analogies simply to pull support in around him on the basis of race. It makes me want to punch the man squarely in the face. He damages our racially charged area even more, not because he's fighting racism....because it serves his purpose to make that rift stronger.
The reason he can't make this go away is not because he is an African American.
It's because he did something wrong. With public money.

You hit the nail on the head Melissa. I read Brian Dickerson's column too and saw the correlation between Barack's speech and Kwame's rant. This is NOT about infidelity, it is about perjury and using public money to shut people up to save his own ass. Blaming the media for getting caught at it is ridiculous!
