I love the 80's.
This is what I did this weekend. My friends went to prom and I tagged along.
It was my friend's 35th birthday celebration and in spite of myself, and my week long round of whining about having to find something to wear which would remind me of probably the most painful and miserable decade of my life, I had a really good time.
I didn't look like this in the 80's though. In fact, I never actually went to prom. I looked more like this.
I hated it even then, note how I'm flipping off the camera. Still, if I thought I hated the 80's, check out my sister's look. Holy Shit.
In other news Pam from Union Station contacted me and I put her in touch with the people I needed to. Thank you for your emails!

Wow. Really? You let yourself be all hidden in the post, yet there I am, in front of god and everybody.
And sweet jebus, I really thought that sweater was awesome. It looks like something Bill Cosby wore as an infant.

That looks like it would be totally fun! Gotta love those shiny prom dresses...they look almost identical to the two that I had in high school!

you're dressed like a spurned groupie from the Indigo Girls' Strange Fire tour who's spent three weeks chopping lots of wood.

oh wait, that's not you. I didn't even see you in the picture until I clicked on it. so yes, please apologize to your lesbian cousin for me.

Shit, you're right, I have to shrink it I guess.
Damn side bars.
And surprisingly that's an aunt who is most likely a lesbian and that might explain why she lives out in the middle of nowhere and stopped speaking to my family not long after this photo.

Am I the only one who's just flabbergasted and impressed that your friends CAN WEAR their HIGH SCHOOL prom dresses? I mean, the shiny is funny and all, but WOW.
I gave mine away a while ago. Never thought I'd have a reason for a 1988 JCPenney strapless lime-green number.
God, I wish I could fit into it, though!

That's Aunt Su in the purple? I didn't recognize her without the face.
I think TeriLynn is adorable, too. Those big glasses are coming back, I swear it!

Ugh. I didn't have a prom dress either. I know I had various shades of stonewashed jeans (with matching jackets!), nasty pastel sweaters and a very ugly poodle perm.
Oh, and stirrup pants. Worn with little booties.
(Face flaming. Running away to hide).

And here I am, being totally envious of girls whose moms were cool enough to BUY them metallic prom dresses. Mine was all matronly and lavender - and a few years later, I found out Mom wore it to some company dinner when I was away in college. So, not surprisingly, my narcissistic mother didn't buy me a prom dress - she bought herself an evening dress. And yes, damn, I just pieced this all together while I was typing.
ps - Did everyone get a bad perm in the '80s - the ones that stunk to high heaven and left scabs on your scalp?

Okay, I love the black lace mitts...and the "up" collar on the Izod shirt w/the Members' Only jacket. OMG, this takes me back to high school is a BIG way.
I have to admit, I did go to my proms, as well as a few others; you would never know it to see me then or today. One of my prom dresses was a dress I'd had to wear as a bridesmaid for my uncle's wedding. (I had a thrifty mom.)
Ah, memories!

Thanks for Dutch for making this clear to me.
I'd definitely have to go shopping for a new prom dress if I was going to do this!

So... I guess the boys didn't go to prom either?
You and your sis are too cute.
