Please Don't Copy. I really didn't want to put a copyright thing on my site. It seemed a little....I don't know. But it's been brought to my attention I need to remind people to maybe think their own thoughts.
I love this idea. You can clearly see how much they have changed in the course of a school year. Their faces in the first picture show excitement; the second, glee.
I'm a teacher and I do the same thing with my class. I take a group photo at the beginning of the year and then have them sit in the same spots at the end of the year. I have them do this on Mass day when the boys are wearing ties and the girls are wearing their jumpers (so adorable). It's so cool to see the difference and the kids LOVE it!
Holy crimoly, that was just one year?? They're growing like weeds! How the hey do you keep them in clothes?
I am also stealing your idea (but I'll give you credit if anyone asks :)). Bunker Monkey goes into Kindergarten in September, and has been asking for MONTHS when he gets to go to "big boy school" (can you tell the brainwashing has worked? ).
Very neat idea. And very beautiful lil' ones. Good job, mama!
I'm stealing it too. I noticed they have the same backpacks. Lucky you,I somehow got suckered into buying my daughter a 2nd one for kindergarten no less. Of course, now she is back to using the original cheap/falling apart one.
Skroll: I usually buy the cheap ones but last year (when Max went to K and Maddie went to 3rd) I bought these ones thinking they had staying power (no characters).
They've held up really well. I'm pleased overall.
Maddie's shows more wear, more books plus a lighter color. Max's (lands end) shows NO wear at all. He will use this bag until at least 6th grade.
On the down side he wants something new. So my plan is to let him pick an obnoxious lunch box every year.
First, they look like totally different kids in just a school year's time. Second, you cannot kill a Lands' End backpack. My kids have had theirs since kindergarten. They just finished 4th and 5th grade and the backpacks look good as new. You can throw them in the washing machine if they start to get skeevy from the creepy crap kids keep in there. Plus, they're no more expensive than a less sturdy backpack.
There you go. You DO rock as a mother. I took a pic of each kid on their first day of school , their FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL. Ahem.. And I will take one on their last day.
I didn't revisit it every school year nor did I document every last day. WHAT STANDARDS ARE YOU MAKING US WANT TO ACHIEVE, HOW FAR MUST WE GO!!!
Sigh. Motherhood. The never ending yard stick... ;)
Great picture! The first thing I did notice was they had the same backpacks. I guess my kids will have Lands End packs for the Fall. No more Children's Place backpacks...we went thru 2 each this year.
it seems that the first 3-5 years of their lives last forever. all that adjusting to parenthood and finding a 'new' you or struggling to keep the old one intact.
then you turn around and they are all grown up. my big one just finished her freshman year of college. but hey i still made her a grilled cheese for dinner tonight!
I love this idea. You can clearly see how much they have changed in the course of a school year. Their faces in the first picture show excitement; the second, glee.

WOW! Look how much they have grown in 1 school year! Thanks for the excellent idea!

Doesn't this sort of freak you out? It's unbelievable how much kids can change and grow in just a few months.
Great idea too!

Oh my GOSH. That's how much they grew in ONE YEAR? I don't have kids yet, but this is shocking!

What a great idea. I am totally going to steal this.

I love Max's haircut and glasses. They are both beauties, for sure.

i love this!!
i will totally take one of my kids on their last day. it's not until the 24th though...suckers!

If there is still a thing called school by the time I have kids, I made a mental note to do this. Genius idea!

That's a great idea! I'm copying you next year. My five-year-old son gained at least ten pounds over this school year, and is about six inches taller.

ohhh, so neat! genius!

Nice juxtaposition. Same? Different? Both? Neither? Sweet.

WOW! Look how much they grew! And Maddie has not only grown taller but clearly older.
Great idea!

What stands out to me is Maddie's confidence level. She is much more sure of herself now.

What a cool idea! I have a picture of me on my first day of kindergarten, and one of me, first day of teaching...same front patio and everything. :)

They change over night! I love the two pics together...you girl is grown up now! Say it isn't soooo!

Safety Patrol!! I love it.
Those are some mighty cute kids.

Is this possible?!?! You send you kids to school babies and they come back pre-tweeners!
Posted by: cj | 2008.06.13 at 05:34 PM
I do the same thing with my (only) child! It's amazing how much they change in one year, isn't it??
Happy summer!!

You're so lucky that your kids don't have to wear those God-keefer fluxin **&^)%$ uniforms!! Great idea otherwise. Thanks.
