Summer Is Really Winding Down. I need more time.

It's pretty awesome when your summer is so full of fun stuff you can barely keep up.

Over the weekend we were invited up north to stay at a friend's family cottage up north.

Here's a handy tip, actually two handy tips: 1) If you don't own a cottage up north? Know someone who does, preferably a few people who do. 2) If you're thinking about buying a cottage of your own, don't. It's a lot of work to maintain two houses. Try convincing your parents to buy a cottage with enough room for you and your family. If you like your parents this is really great because: Built In Babysitters!

Friends with cabins up north are the best. Friends with cabins up north that also house DUNE BUGGIES are friends you never, ever drift apart from. So much fun!

I posted about this very concept earlier this summer. Sponging Off of Friends! As long as you contribute to the food fundage and help clean up? Cheap, relaxing vacation time with cool people! And you know they are keepers when you can spend a few days at their place and everybody is still laughing! And they invite you back, too!

I agree wholeheartedly! Some of our best friends have a cottage "up North". They also have a boat. We split the meal duties whenever we are invited and always help clean up.

Same goes for a boat...find a friend with a boat, but never own one yourself.

I hate the end of summer, too. I wouldn't want it year-round, but a few more months of it would be nice. You can really see Maddie's resemblance to you in picture of her coloring.

Agreed. I don't want to spend my time off maintaining another house. Let others do it for you!

Renting is good too, but it's better when you can just impose yourself of family and friends!

We're sponging off my parents at a beach house right now, and I hear you about the dwindling days of summer.

My kids are going to be mighty unhappy on Friday when we get home and they find out that school starts on Tuesday...

My parents live in a cottage all summer, about 1.5 hrs away from us. The best is taking a nap while Grandma plays dolls.

Hey, wanna come up for a visit next summer? We don't have dune buggies, but we have a boat, 2 canoes (except the new one's not allowed in the water yet, it might get wet), a paddleboat AND a JETSKI!
