Should have got my hair done.

The Good Morning America piece aired early this morning. After a night of karaoke and adult libations that ended for me at 1am and for Logan at.....he doesn't remember when.

It's not too cringe inducing. Except for the part where I sing "Uno" like a lunatic.

Logan told the reporter that he'd pay money if they found a way to use that in the piece. And so, they did.

Also there are a couple of times where I just want to climb into the video and fix my hair (Logan of course stopped for a cut on his way home that day....smart guy). But overall it wasn't terrible.

Here you go if you're interested in taking a look.

Watch for Choppable's appearance as they pan through my closet. Fear not Internet, he can't get you. He can get me, but let's not think about that.

You all look adorable, but my favorite part was cartoon Logan and Melissa.

Molly

I thought you guys looked great! The cartoons were an interesting addition...

melissa in NY

I like the cartoon you, also!! They drew you with your supercool necklace!! The real you looked fab also!

Laurie

I was enjoying my Sunday morning cup of coffee, reading the paper with Good Morning American on TV and I sort of glanced up and there you were! You all looked fabulous and so does your home!

How cool (or annoying) was it to have GMA following your around with camera's?

Rhea

I loved it, especially the cartoons of you guys and the UNO singing. Your home is so lovely too!

beyond

that was great! beautiful home... and i love your hair, especially in the cartoon version.

Amy

I loved the Uno bit, solely because it's totally something that I'd do in front of cameras. My inner-dork just can't be suppressed, I suppose.

And by the way, your hair looks adorable. I think I have to echo the comments above and ask what was up with the cartoons. Still, a great piece and your house is adorable!

tuneouttv @yahoo.com

Hey saw you on Action 7 ...you guys rock!

Poppy Buxom

Do not be ashamed of yodeling "Uno!" You have a good voice!

And that's eight years of voice lessons talking, missy.

steff

I missed it! But glad to watch it here!

Smart move turning yourselves into renters...its very tempting for our family too!

I love that I heard your voice, now when I read your blog I can hear you in my head! :-)

Julie

I thought it was a nice piece when I watched your link. I'm about to watch it again on the 5:00 Seattle news.

LL

Congrats! It's a great segment, and I don't know what you're talking about - your hair looks really cute, and so shiny. If that's just how you always look - great earrings and necklace, cute outfit - man, that's pretty darn good.

norm

I also loved "cartoon Logan and Melissa" -- that cracked me up. So did the cartoon (insert my name and my wife's) who were dismayed by the disadvantages of ownership ... ha!

kate

That is just so cool. You guys are the poster-children for renting vs. owning. It's got to feel so frickin' good to call the landlord to say that, you know, the sit back and wait for him to pay to fix it. Oh man, that's what I miss...

Hayley

What are you talking about, you look good! You weren't cheesy or anything. And I laughed at the Uno part.

BTW- I LOVE YOUR FRIDGE, TOO. I WANT I WANT I WANT.

P.Gardiner

It was cute! Even the Uno part. The cartoon freaked my out a bit though, they gave you ginormous breasts! Eef, it was like your whole torso.

velvet

that uno singsong just made my day! awesome.
we are renters after previously being buyers, as well. there are definite advantages. love your blog - we actually used to live in royal oak, too, so it brings back lots of memories :)

Suebob

And rocking the Superhero necklace. It is like a secret Masonic Blogger symbol.

amy

That is a pretty sweet house you are living in! All the great old stuff but with a redone kitchen, love it. Your hair? Didn't even notice :) Great clip you rock star you!

Larissa

The UNO part was funny and the whole piece was great, your hair was fine and you seemed very natural!

Sarah @ BecomingSarah.com

I'm sure it worked out better than you think!

soozey

That was a great piece! I remember reading your blog when you decided to rent the first house and all you were going through--can you believe that your wise choices were affirmed and praised on NATIONAL TELEVISION!! ABC news pretty much said you guys are financial wizards. And that other cartoon couple wishes they were as savvy as you!

suzi

I thought it was great, too. That necklace is your signature piece now. :) Sooo want one of those darn things. Anyway, the segment was great, cartoon Melissa and Logan rocked. Your new place is super cute and I think you guys are being extremely smart by renting. I hope this landlord knows how lucky they are to have you there. :)

Elise

You seemed so relaxed and natural, nicely done!

jana

Aww, you guys are all adorable! My favorite part was the UNO singing, I must say.

I thought this segment was interesting, too. My husband and I sold our home in 2005 right before the bubble burst and have been renting since then. Glad to know we might be making a sound financial decision!

Calee

You looked great, the cartoon was a bit silly and your fridge--perfect!

Kristen

Nothing better than a french door fridge! You all are such a beautiful family!

Juli Ryan

Heh, Uno. Too funny. Seriously, I love the 1920s details. My husband and I are STILL renting. A house with a sea view. That we can't afford to buy.

Emily

Photo Logan is hot, live action Logan is hotter.

Paolo

Thank you Melissa for sharing this!!

Paolo

Thank you for sharing this!!
Paolo

Barb

Loved it!

Laura

I missed Chopable, but you all were GREAT!

Laura

Oops. I misspelled Choppable. He's not going to come after me, is he?

Nancy Hamilton

I thought you all did an excellent job with this piece. I even liked the "Uno!"

Melting Mama

I wish we had considered the rent vs. own dilemma a few years ago. We actually BOUGHT a house right before the market crash, and it's value dropped so far it's sickening. We sold it, lost out, and moved to a foreclosed house for less money. We still pay a lot more than $1300 for our new mortgage (damn that's good) rent in 1998 for a two bedroom apartment cost us $1000.

You guys did super on camera.

Janet

I missed it Sunday morning (for reasons similar to your Saturday night!) but our local ABC affliate in Grand Rapids played it again on the 11:00 news last night. I thought is was great!

Ani

you guys look great! And the house looks fabulous. Can you come over and do mine? Pretty pretty please?

Katherine

A great piece! Your voice is lovely. And just so you know- the part where you invite the journalist upstairs sounded perfectly natural. Uh, not invite like invite but you know what I meant.

Alison C

You were great! Loved the cartoon people too! I heart your house!

Why Mom Drinks Rum

OMG...spewed water on my keyboard. "UuuuunnnooooOoo!" - lol. I suggest torture for Logan and the editors. Nice place though! Hopefully the landlords aren't as wank-tastic as the last ones.

You know, for the Damage deposit I always found that quoting various sections from the landlord tenant act (or whatever your have there) and throw in the name of your lawyer gets results. Some landlords take the 'lords' part a little too seriously.

CanadaSteph

Uoooooooooooonooooooooo! I loved it. I agree that the cartoon Melissa and Logan were great but my favourite part was when you were feeling up your fridge. You looked like you wanted to lick it.

Pam

** UUUNOOOO ** Loved it!

Meg

Melissa, that was great! You looked beautiful. Way prettier than cartoon Melissa.

emily

My favorite is that the cartoon you is also wearing a superhero necklace.

Mrs. Kennedy

Studies show that petting your appliances helps them to live an average of ten years longer.

Sandie

Loved the cartoon you! And, I must say, your husband is cuter in real life vs. pictures. Not that I would, like, hit on him at a bowling alley or anything.

brokemom

I loved the trilling "Unoooooo". My family would play thet game when I was younger, and it makes me feel warm and fuzzy that your kids will have those memories as well...

claire

You guys were awesome! My house would look nowhere near that cute if GMA showed up to film.

carrie

I love that they drew your necklace on the cartoon Melissa and Logan. It's a great piece.

Deanna

I laughed at where they decided to edit in your "Uno" amidst the voice over. Basically it was something like, "Logan and Melissa are two beautiful people with two beautiful children, two jobs and perfect credit." UUUNOOOO!

"Uno" was sort of like code for "take that haters! We rock!"

alexis

i can't believe they filmed you all day for that short of a clip! you guys look cute, and your house too! whats up with the cartoon characters?!

Alyce

You guys were awesome. I loved the sing-song, "Unoooooo!"

Isn't it nice to appear on TV for something you did right and not be chastised for having a glass of wine?!

JB and I sold our house 2 years ago. I missed it the whole first year. But then I lost my job (nearly 10 months ago) and still haven't found one. I don't miss the mortgage at all. So now I pretend we were fiscal geniuses.

Cee

The cartoon you + husband are hilarious.

wookie

The part where you sing UNO does really crack me up. Sadly, ten years from now that is probably the part you will remember best :-)

Sher

What fun!

I have to say the only truly disappointing thing about the piece was the lack of Boy Scout uniform footage.

Mitzi

Melissa - you guys were great! You were cute as a button. What did the kids say about being on tv? Were they excited?

McCashew

Makes me wish I had been able to talk my hubby out of buying! You looked great~

Sabrina

I think you should get a copy of the cartoon characters of you and Logan! And, go ahead and get a copy of the condescending neighbors, too, just for kicks!

(Seriously, I think you did great. And I love that you killed at UNO)

lettergirl

The superhero necklace! You looked great, although WTF with cartoon Melissa looking bloated???

SueFromOh(sc and nc)

I LOVE UNO!!! HAHAHA

You guys looked great and the piece was very informative. FAMILY VACATION?!?!?! when we are relocated AGAIN we'll look into renting...hmmmm....

bokker

Oh gosh, there was a lot to love about that piece:
1. The way they put "uno!" in right at the top. Surely that should be your new tagline?
2. The way the kids were sort of grinning energetically in every shot, in the throes of "we're on TV!" excitement, no doubt.
3. The cartoon- was that supposed to be of you? In any case, I found it inexplicably hilarious.

Jules

It was a great piece and I loved the Uno shout out (sounded eerily familiar like when I stomped my nieces at Go Fish). I hope the family vacation that was mentioned includes a visit to Northern California. We'd love to see you.

Eliza

Wow... I should move to Michigan. Your house is so incredibly cute! We're renting too and pay several hundred more than you per month for a two bedroom apartment in the bay area that is, honestly, a bit of a dive. Like, a paint peeling, stained carpets, no insulation, we had to tape plastic on the windows to avoid freezing this winter dive. I guess it's all relative, but... this kind of makes me sad. Sigh.

Reagan

Great piece with good advice!

You look nothing like your sidebar pic, though!!

Kristen

I love Royal Oak! I used to live on Center St, just north of 11 Mile. Ferndale is fabulous as well!

Jamie @ BlondeMomBlog

I love your home...you and Logan did great!

p.s. I'd kill for a fridge like that and a walk-in closet. Our house was built in 1968 and we have no closet space. OK maybe not kill. Maybe just give someone a nasty paper cut?
