I really didn't want to put a copyright thing on my site. It seemed a little....I don't know. But it's been brought to my attention I need to remind people to maybe think their own thoughts.

Tastefull Tour: Eastern Market & Detroit

Last week when Logan was busy fighting the man, the absent man who could give two shits about right/wrong or the law,  I decided to join a bunch of moms from school and go on a Tastefull Tour, instead. You know instead of standing in a courtroom feeling indignant and angry.

I did that later.

This weekend Facebook recommended my Ex Landlord as a friend I might want to add. Isn't that nice of Facebook. Maybe I should just forget all about it, be the bigger person and be friends! Why fight! I'll just get another $2000 from the money tree in the basement and give him a couple thousand for his trouble! Thanks Facebook.

When I mentioned his appearance on Facebook, Logan's friend Adam chimed in with, "Can you imagine his status updates? 'Totally fucking my ex-tenant in the ass! Man it's great to be a douchbag!'"

But that day I went on a tour of Downtown Detroit Markets and Artisan Shops. It was a lot of fun spending the day out of the house in the sunshine with a bunch of people who are not my cats. A blog reader from Ann Arbor, (hi Susan!) came all the way out to go on this tour because it was such a great way to get reacquainted with Detroit.

You can see the entire set with details of each of the spots we visited at my Flickr set. And I'm begging you, begging you to please go to Supino at least once. Amazing.

yes, yes, and yes. I love Supino, and Dave is soooooo nice. Believe it or not I just went to Russel Street Deli for the first time a few weeks ago and loved it. Is that Tammy from the Candy Band in one of your photos?

MelissaS

Yes! Anita was also on our tour. Tammy is a mom at school. The lead singer is also a mom at our school.

Aren't we lucky?

Kingsmom

I read your blog regularly. I grew up in Michigan but no longer live there. Although I'm not from your particular area, I like to read about all the stuff you do. Thanks for sharing.

Laura

My evil real estate agent tried to friend me on FB. Just proved she was truly insane. Couldn't hit ignore fast enough.

Last week, Facebook recommended my ex-husband as a friend to add. The the following day, it recommended my aunt - who stopped speaking to me when I remarried (a wonderful man, BTW). Apparently, she liked my alcoholic ex better.

I'm going with a NO on both.

I think Facebook is somehow mining Gmail address books or something. It suggested I add a former friend, who doesn't even have any FB friends at all.

Jessica

Hi Melissa,

I'll definitely have to try Supino's; thanks for the tip!

I see from your Flickr pics that you stopped by Rocky's and R.J.Hirt (old favorites!). I'd be surprised if a food tour of the Market didn't stop at Rafal. Did you, or... I hate to ask... is it closed??

kelbelle

Your stories reinforce my belief in Karma. He is getting his. It will work out for you. It will, just wait...

mr. rafal closed his store about five months ago. I miss the fellow who scooped my coffee.

Jessica

Jim,

thanks for filling me in. I would have cried out on the sidewalk if I'd shown up unawares. Damn, damn damn. I loved that place, but I knew it was coming. The last time I got coffe from them was two years ago. Their barrels were empty forever.

Was your coffee man the older African American guy? He was really serious about his business. He always seemed very disapproving of the way I sniffed the coffee beans. He wated me to get my nose right down in it. I'll miss him and the Rafal guys. They were so good to me. Mr. Mustache was my favorite.

Damn this recession....

Susan

Thanks for the shout-out Melissa. I enjoyed getting to meet you and the fabulous tour put on by Laura and Laura – yay for Tastefull Tours and for more frequent visits to Detroit! I also laughed so hard at your rubber snake post; it made me wonder if you ever wrote up the “stuffing the turkey” incident as mentioned in the comments? Happy long weekend!
