12 Days Of Christmas Cocktail: 1-2-3 Time Out
Liss is a big fan of Prosecco. Sparkling wines add an air of festivity to any occasion — and not just holidays. Pop a bottle on the occasion of junior’s next uncomplicated bedtime to celebrate the silence! Or the next time you successfully put the adorable little monster into time out. You’ve got a girlfriend coming over to drop off the book for next book club? Any activity plus Prosecco becomes pleasurably memorable.
The 1-2-3 Time Out is based on the Bellini, a champagne and peach pureé cocktail. I like the flavor of apricots, hence the switch from peach to apricot (you could also use peach nectar if you like). I added grenadine (for a bit of sweetness and flavor) and orange bitters (for a little spiciness and aroma).
1-2-3 Time Out
1.5-2oz Apricot nectar (I use Looza brand)
.25 teaspoon lemon juice
.25 teaspoon grenadine
Dash of orange bitters (Angostura brand)
Prosecco or champagne
Mix all ingredients except Prosecco in champagne flute. Carefully add Prosecco. Enjoy!
Bonus Prosecco drink! If you happened to make the grenadine we posted a few days ago, you can make a great drink by simply pouring a shot (1.5oz) of it into a champagne flute and adding Prosecco. Tastes great and super simple. Add a small amount of lemon juice if you want it less sweet.
This looks fabulous! My crowd are huge champagne drinkers, and prefer the real thing unadorned. However, I have a couple of bottles of Prosecco hanging around that were gifts, that would be perfect for this cocktail. I rarely drink straight Prosecco because it is sweeter than I like my bubbles, so I can't wait to try this. Thanks again, you two!

By the way, this series may turn me into Amy Winehouse. I say, no, no, no.

Damn me and my white trash drinking habits! These look delightful, but I can't handle the bubbly...I much prefer liquor of the clear variety.

Ashley, this would be a good drink with vodka too. Use 1.5oz vodka in place of the Prosecco, increase the lemon and grenadine a bit, stir with ice and strain into a glass with ice. Adjust the amount of ingredients to your taste.

These cocktail posts made me think you might enjoy the website of a local (Seattle by way of Montreal) bartender of note named Jamie Boudreau. His website is http://spiritsandcocktails.wordpress.com/ and his knowledge is pretty fucking phenomenal. He often posts some fascinating cocktail recipes. Definitely worth a browse.

Thanks, Logan! I will try it...I don't believe I've ever met a vodka drink that I didn't like.
