12 Days Of Christmas Cocktails: The Overnight At Grandmas

I've had some chocolate flavored liqueurs that have a fake chocolate taste I’m not fond of. Not the case with Godiva Chocolate liqueur. They have a few flavors including milk chocolate and white chocolate. I like the original. Godiva Chocolate liqueur fits into the category of "I haven't tasted a cheaper version of this that I like as well." Godiva ain't cheap, but sometimes its worth spending a little more for the good stuff. Thankfully today's other ingredients are very reasonably priced (the small bottle of peppermint schnapps I bought cost me $2, $15 for the Frangelico). Onto the drinks...
Peppermint Overnight at Grandma’s
We had some friends over last night to put a stamp of approval this recipe. All agreed that the balance of peppermint and chocolate was right. You can vary the amount of peppermint schnapps to suit your taste.
2oz Godiva Chocolate liqueur
2oz vodka
1oz peppermint schnapps
Shake all ingredients in a cocktail shaker. Enjoy.
Hazelnut Overnight at Grandma’s
Seems like the poor Francelico monk bottle gets passed by in the booze aisle more often than not. It's not a liqueur that gets a lot of attention. I think folks might not know what to do with it, but it has a really good flavor (half vodka, half Frangelico on ice is delicious). I'm a fan of hazelnut coffee -- if you are too, you might really like this chocolate hazelnut drink.
1.5oz Frangelico
1.5oz Godiva Chocolate liqueur
1.5oz vodka
Shake all ingredients in a cocktail shaker. Enjoy.

Oh I've been trying to come up with something to do with the Godiva Chocolate that a friend gave us when they moved across country. This sounds perfect.

These sound delicious (as did the cocktail from yesterday). And, since my daughter will be spending the night at Grandma's later this week, I'll definitely have to try this!

It sounds sweet. On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being Karo syrup), where do you think this would fall?

They are both fairly high on the sweet scale.
Peppermint Overnight at Grandma’s gets a 7-8
Hazelnut Overnight at Grandma’s gets a 6-7
When I encounter a drink that's too sweet, I usually add more of the main, unflavored liquor -- if there is one. You still get the flavor, but its not as strong. It doesn't always work, but its a good bet when vodka is the ingredient you're increasing because the vodka dilutes the other ingredients without adding flavor. That gets you a stronger cocktail -- whether that's a good thing might depend on how many tantrums/melt-downs/unpleasant interactions you've had to endure on that particular day...
With these 2 drinks, I'd add more vodka and possibly decrease the other ingredients too.

As if I didn't love you enough before, you give us 12 Boozy Nights. Thank you, Liss and Pants.

The downside of being pregnant over the holidays is not being able to partake in fun drinks like this. I will go drown my sorrow in bourbon-less eggnog. Sad.
I might suggest the peppermint version to my husband as the drink du jour at our neighborhood party this weekend.

I don't even drink and I'm enjoying this series. The chocolate mint one makes me think that if I tasted it it might be the first alcoholic beverage I've had that I didn't think tasted like ass.

I have a feeling I'll be spending a lot of money at the liquor store by the time this series is over! Can't wait to try today's and yesterday's.

These sound yummy. I'm very fond of the Nutty Irishman with Frangelico and Bailey's.

MELISSA. We decided to make this the signature drink for a Christmas party I'm hosting on Saturday night and thus had to test it out last night (peppermint version).
Life. Changer.
Kudos to you and Logan.

OOh! Right on! That's great.

Our new favorite Christmas cocktail! I didn't have Godiva chocolate liquor, however, but did have some double chocolate liquor (from Marshall Field's Franco line), so we complimented ours with a splash of half and half. So smooth! It doesn't hit you what you're drinking until you've got the buzz.
