Computer dead. Typing on phone. Help.

My computer has been acting up. It worked for a while if I wrapped the power cord around my face and held my tongue to the exposed wires with a piece of foil wrapped around my toe.

I actually decided over Christmas that I don't want, or rather don't need, a new computer. Of course then a week later I had a power cord and a piece of foil rigged up to make the damn thing run.

Now it's dead. D-E-D

No matter how I hold the cord or how I place the exposed wires on my fillings the cord won't power up the computer.

In the meantime we've been trying to adopt a dog. Tomorrow we have our home inspection, and if our home is good enough we could have our girl by Saturday.

I was going to wait to tell you about her until she'd moved in, but enh, it's all over Twitter as I've been terrified we'll be denied adoption.

Anyway, please keep your fingers crossed the rescue lady thinks our home is safe for a dog. Also cross your fingers that I go to the Apple store and all I need is a new power cord for my computer. She's pretty old, but we have history!

You will pass inspection. Unless you plan to leave him/her tethered to a pole outside feeding it cheap dog food with no water.. Most rescues are happy to find loving families who plan to treat the dog as part of the household.

What a sweet, irresistible puppy!

The same exact power cord thing happened to my PC. Really hope its the power cord for you. My motherboard was shot and I had to replace the computer. Turns out it's a common problem with laptops, as the power port is fairly sensitive. Grrr! I'm babying my new laptop's cord and port to avoid a repeat performance.

We adopted a beautiful girl from the pound in September. We love her. She's a terrier/whippet/goat/ancient mystic/dinosaur cross. She mostly looks like a Dr. Seuss character.

I never thought we'd get a rescue dog. Have always had purebred pups we'd gotten from breeders. But Daisy was pet of the week on the noon news, and we were smitten.

She was turned in because of anxiety issues. We've found if we put her in a kennel(we call it her office) in our room when we're gone, and watch the stray underwear, she's fine.

I can't believe they actually come to your home to tell you if you are worthy enough. I mean- I know that Princess is the best dog EVAH, but really? A home visit? Wow.

Of course your home will be good enough. If it's not- just send in your twitter updates from this week. That should prove how much you want this dog.

Also- casually mention that you are giving up your cleaning lady- OUCH- for this puppy. They will probably give you a medal for your devotion.

good luck with the dog - we rescued our first in March and I was so anxious for the home visit - afraid we'd be deemed "unworthy"! Unfortunately our guy had some anxiety issues so we fostered and adopted a 2nd in July - I would never have thought we'd have one dog never mind TWO large dogs in this house! Best of luck!

She was a collie, and she was with us until I was well into adulthood, my career , and a marriage. I still tear up when I think of her and how much she loved us and we loved her. She was born 7/11/09 so about 7 months old, already house trained! Yay!

I’m laughing about the home inspection. I have adopted four labs over the past seven years. My house totally passed inspection “BD” (before dogs). Five minutes after the dogs moved in with all of their shedding, slobber and muddy feet, that care went out the window!

My Mac power cord once melted. Right up near the end that plugs into my computer. Leading up to that, if I held the cord just SO, it would charge. Then it stopped working. Turns out it was a new cord that got me back in business.

Hysterical! I have to gerry-rig my vacuum cleaner in much the same way and it doesn't bother me as much as it bothers my husband because he thinks I am going to electrocute myself....just saving up for a Dyson!!!
