Not going to hijack your comments section with a long explanation but want to tell you that, in light of what's been happening dog-wise in my life lately, I'm SO SO SO SO SO SO happy that you're getting this gem of a pooch. Can't wait for the photos.

So, So Happy for Maddie!!! My sister was dog crazy too when we were kids. Our parents never did give in, so when she moved out, the first thing she bought was a dog. Nevermind that she didn't have 2 cents to rub together, she HAD to have her dog!

Having grown up with dogs, this is going to be so awesome for the kids. Just remember to be patient, and I wouldn't be surprised if she ends up being your new best friend as opposed to Maddy's. :)

Also, please get Maddy to write you a note telling you how wonderful you are. You'll want to laminate it and re-read it in the years to come, if what I recall of my teenagehood is even vaguely correct.

Congratulations! A new addition to your family. Your life will never be the same (but probably not in a bad way, you know what I mean). Here's my one suggestion: get a poop scooper with a long handle/hinge kinda thing, and a trash can with a flip top lid. Scoop the mess right after she goes and put it in the lined trash can. THen, just empty that trash can on trash day. Easy peasy.

I'm so happy for you all. I couldn't get a dog until I was 20-something -- my parents waited to get one until the kids moved out. (I'm still considering revenge litigation in Parents' Court.) FINALLY getting my pup was one of the happiest days of my life.
